vMIP2

Alternative Names: Viral MIP-2, Viral MIP-2, MIP2 Viral, Viral MIP2, Viral Macrophage inflammatory Protein-2

Viral MIP-2 is highly similar to MIP-1α, with an amino acid sequence similarity of approximately 41%. At the amino acid sequence level, Viral MIP-1 and Viral MIP-2 share 48% similarity. Phylogenetically, Viral MIP-1 and Viral MIP-2 are more closely related to each other than to other human chemokines. This suggests that they have undergone gene duplication within the virus, rather than being acquired independently through two separate genes. Viral MIP-2 specifically interacts with the CCR3 chemokine receptor, which is responsible for the activation of eosinophils by eotaxin and other β chemokines. As a result, Viral MIP-2 is able to activate and attract human eosinophils.

Product Description

Recombinant Viral Macrophage Inflammatory Protein-2 (vMIP-2) is a chemokine belonging to the C-C chemokine family. With a molecular weight of approximately 8.5 kDa, vMIP-2 plays a significant role in the regulation of immune responses and inflammation. This chemokine is involved in the recruitment and activation of macrophages, which are crucial components of the innate immune system. By binding to its receptor, vMIP-2 facilitates the migration of macrophages to sites of infection or tissue damage, aiding in the clearance of pathogens and promoting tissue repair. Understanding the functions and properties of vMIP-2 contributes to the comprehension of immune responses and potential therapeutic interventions for inflammatory disorders.

Storage Instruction

Lyophilized MIP-2 Viral protein although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution CXCL2 should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized CXCL2 Viral in sterile 18MΩ-cm H2O not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
