Human Urokinase, a serine protease, is a naturally occurring enzyme that plays a significant role in the fibrinolytic system. Belonging to the family of plasminogen activators, it is responsible for the conversion of plasminogen to plasmin, a key enzyme involved in the dissolution of blood clots. With a molecular weight of approximately 54 kilodaltons, human urokinase exhibits a specific affinity towards fibrin, facilitating the breakdown of fibrin clots and promoting clot lysis. Its enzymatic activity is regulated by various physiological factors, making it a crucial component in maintaining the delicate balance of hemostasis.

Lyophilized Urokinase although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution Urokinase should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C. Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Urokinase in sterile 18MΩ-cm H2O not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
