SDF 1g

Alternative Names: Stromal cell-derived factor 1, SDF-1, hSDF-1, C-X-C motif chemokine 12, CXCL12, SDF1, hSDF-1gamma, SDF-1g, Pre-B cell growth-stimulating factor, PBSF, Intercrine reduced in hepatomas, IRH, hIRH, TLSF, TPAR1, SCYB12.

SDF-1, also known as CXCL12, is a small cytokine from the chemokine family that plays a crucial role in cell coordination during development. It is produced in two forms, SDF-1a/CXCL12a and SDF-1b/CXCL12b, by alternate splicing of the same gene. CXCL12 is highly chemotactic for lymphocytes and directs the migration of hematopoietic cells during embryogenesis. Knock-out mice for the CXCL12 gene were found to be lethal, indicating its importance for survival. CXCL12 is expressed in various tissues in mice, including the brain, thymus, heart, and bone marrow. The receptor for CXCL12 is CXCR4, and recent studies suggest that CXCR7 may also interact with CXCL12. The gene for CXCL12 is located on human chromosome 10, and both human and mouse versions of CXCL12 and CXCR4 show high sequence identity.

Product Description

Recombinant Human Stromal Cell-Derived Factor-1 gamma (CXCL12) is a chemokine protein belonging to the CXC chemokine family. It plays a critical role in immune response and cell migration by binding to its receptor, CXCR4. With a molecular weight of approximately 8 kDa, CXCL12 is involved in various physiological processes, including hematopoiesis, angiogenesis, and tissue repair. Its recombinant form is commonly used in research and therapeutic applications to study its functions and potential therapeutic benefits.

Storage Instruction

Lyophilized SDF-1g although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution SDF-1 gamma should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized SDF-1g in sterile 18M-cm H₂O not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
