SCGB2A2 HEK

Alternative Names: Mammaglobin-A, Mammaglobin-1, Secretoglobin family 2A member 2, SCGB2A2, MGB1, UGB2, MGC71974. Reordered series: Mammaglobin-A, Mammaglobin-1, Secretoglobin family 2A member 2, SCGB2A2, MGB1, UGB2, MGC71974.

The mammaglobin gene was discovered through a screening method aimed at finding new genes associated with human breast cancer. Mammaglobin produces a 10 kDa glycoprotein and is distantly related to other epithelial secretory proteins such as rat estramustine-binding protein/prostatein and human Clara cell 10 kDa protein (CC10)/uteroglobin. Mammaglobin, a specific member of the uterglobin family that is found in mammary tissue, is known to be overexpressed in human breast cancer. Studies suggest that mammaglobin is a relatively sensitive and specific marker (85%) for breast cancer. It could be used alongside BRST-2 (GCDFP-15) and ER to evaluate tumors where the site of origin is unknown. The mammaglobin gene (SCGB2A2) is located on chromosome 11 at the 11q13 locus. SCGB2A2 belongs to the secretoglobin superfamily, which consists of small secreted proteins that can form dimers and sometimes have sugar molecules attached to them. These secretoglobins are mainly found in mucosal tissue and are involved in cell signaling, immune response, chemotaxis, and potentially act as transporters for steroid hormones in humans.

Product Description

Recombinant Human Mammaglobin-A, HEK is a protein belonging to the mammaglobin family. With a molecular weight of [insert weight], this protein plays a significant role in various biological processes. Mammaglobin-A is predominantly expressed in breast tissue and has been extensively studied for its potential as a biomarker in breast cancer detection and diagnosis. The recombinant form of this protein, produced using human embryonic kidney (HEK) cells, offers a reliable and consistent source for research and diagnostic applications.
