Serum amyloid A (SAA) protein, encoded by the SAA gene, is a main acute phase reactant and apolipoprotein of the HDL complex. It is primarily expressed by the liver and secreted in plasma. Elevated SAA protein levels have been associated with lung cancer. In normal conditions, the level of Apo-SAA in plasma is typically 1-5 ?g/ml, but it can increase 500-1000 fold within 24 hours of an inflammatory stimulus, making it the most abundant HDL apolipoprotein during these conditions.

Storage Instruction

Lyophilized Human SAA although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution Human SAA should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C.Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized SAA Human in sterile 18M-cm H₂O not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
