rSCGB1A1

Alternative Names: Uteroglobin, Ugb, Utg, UG, Clara cell 17 kDa protein, CC10, Clara cells 10 kDa secretory protein, CCPBP, Clara cell phospholipid-binding protein, PCB-binding protein, PCB-BP, Clara cell phospholipid-binding protein, Secretoglobin family 1A member 1, Scgb1a1, Clara cell 16 kDa protein, CCSP, CC16.

Uteroglobin is a multifunctional protein belonging to the Secretoglobin superfamily that has anti-inflammatory and anti-tumorigenic properties. It binds small hydrophobic molecules such as phospholipids and prostaglandins, inhibits phospholipase A2, and sequesters hydrophobic ligands. Expressed by Clara cells in the lungs and other epithelial cells, Uteroglobin plays a role in sequestering pro-inflammatory mediators and carcinogens, inhibiting cell migration and invasion, platelet aggregation, and T cell differentiation. Defects in the SCGB1A1 gene are linked to a susceptibility to asthma.

Storage Instruction

Lyophilized SCGB1A1 although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution SCGB1A1 should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).

Sample Prep Instruction

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized SCGB1A1 in sterile 18MΩ-cm H2O not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
