Interleukin-8 (IL-8) is a chemokine produced by various cell types such as macrophages, epithelial cells, and endothelial cells. Endothelial cells store IL-8 in their Weibel-Palade bodies. Macrophages release IL-8 when encountering an antigen, signaling other immune cells, particularly neutrophils, to come to the site of inflammation. IL-8 functions as a chemotactic factor for neutrophils.

Storage Instruction

Lyophilized IL-8 although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution IL-8 should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C.Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized ;IL-8 in sterile 18M-cm H₂O not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
