Eotaxin-2, also known as MPIF2 & Ckb6, is a newly discovered CC chemokine produced by activated monocytes and T lymphocytes. It chemoattracts cells expressing CCR3, including eosinophils, basophils, Th2 T cells, mast cells, and certain subsets of dendritic cells. Eotaxin-2 also inhibits the proliferation of hematopoietic progenitor cells. The mature protein consists of 78 amino acids (92 amino acids for the mouse counterpart without C-terminal truncation). CCL24 acts as a chemotactic chemokine for resting T-lymphocytes and eosinophils. It has limited chemotactic activity for neutrophils and none for monocytes and activated lymphocytes. CCL24 also hinders colony formation by hematopoietic progenitor cells and binds to CCR3.

It plays a role in the recruitment and activation of eosinophils, which are involved in allergic responses and inflammatory processes. This protein has a molecular weight of approximately 8.8 kDa and is commonly used in research studies to investigate the mechanisms of eosinophil-mediated inflammation.

Storage Instruction

Lyophilized Eotaxin-2 although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution CCL24 should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized CCL24 ;Rat Recombinant in sterile 18M-cm H2O not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
