RBP Native

Alternative Names: Not Available

The protein Human Retinol Binding Protein (RBP) has the role of transporting and binding vitamin A. This protein circulates in the blood plasma along with prealbumin as a complex. This binding with prealbumin helps prevent excessive loss of RBP through the kidneys. Only the form of RBP that is not bound to retinol can easily pass through the kidneys due to its low molecular weight. Once in the kidneys, RBP is reabsorbed by tubular cells and broken down.

Product Description

Human Retinol Binding Protein Native, belonging to the retinol-binding protein family, is a vital component involved in the transport and delivery of retinol (vitamin A) within the human body. With a molecular weight of approximately 21 kDa, this protein plays a significant role in maintaining retinol homeostasis by binding and solubilizing retinol in the bloodstream. By facilitating the transport of retinol to target tissues, Human Retinol Binding Protein Native ensures the efficient utilization of vitamin A, which is essential for various physiological processes, including vision, growth, and immune function.
