RAD51B

Alternative Names: RAD51 homolog B (S. cerevisiae), R51H2, RAD51L1, REC2, DNA repair protein RAD51 homolog 2, Rad51B, RAD51-like protein 1, RAD51B.

RAD51B is a key protein within the RAD51 family, which plays a critical role in repairing damaged DNA through a process called homologous recombination. More specifically, RAD51B is involved in the pathway that repairs double-stranded DNA breaks that may occur during DNA replication or as a result of exposure to certain DNA-damaging agents. RAD51B forms a stable partnership with another family member known as RAD51C, and both proteins interact with other family members including RAD51, XRCC2, and XRCC3. Excessive levels of RAD51B have been linked to delays in the G1 phase of the cell cycle and ultimately, cell death.

Product Description

Recombinant Human RAD51B is a protein involved in DNA repair processes, belonging to the RAD51 family. With a molecular weight of approximately 46 kDa, it plays a significant role in maintaining genomic stability by participating in the homologous recombination pathway. This protein assists in the formation of nucleoprotein filaments, which facilitate DNA strand exchange during repair of double-stranded DNA breaks. Recombinant Human RAD51B's weight and involvement in DNA repair make it a vital component in maintaining genome integrity and stability.

Storage Instruction

Reconstituted store at -20°C or -80°C.We recommend that single use aliquots are prepared to avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

1. Thaw the vial on ice, spin briefly
2. Prepare single-use or stock aliquots. This stage will depend on your final application so please adapt as appropriate. All our proteins are supplied carrier protein-free. If compatible with your work and you are storing at lower concentrations (<50 ug/ml) adding carrier protein is highly advised (usually 1% w/v high purity BSA or equivalent – ensure all buffers are sterile-filtered).
3. Prepare single-use aliquots whenever possible to avoid freeze-thaw cycles which can damage the proteins and reduce bioactivity. Store aliquots at -70 °C (or -20 °C)
4. We recommend sterile filtering after dilution in media or the final working solution
