PTH (7-84) N15

Alternative Names: Parathormone, PTH, Parathyrin

Parathyroid hormone (PTH) is a polypeptide containing 84 amino acids secreted by the parathyroid glands. It functions to increase calcium concentration in the blood. PTH acts upon parathyroid hormone receptors in the bones, kidneys, and intestines. In the bones, PTH stimulates the release of calcium by enhancing bone resorption through osteoclasts. In the kidneys, PTH enhances active reabsorption of calcium from distal tubules and the thick ascending limb. In the intestines, PTH increases the absorption of calcium by upregulating the production of vitamin D and converting it to its active form, which aids in the absorption of calcium ions by the intestine.

Product Description

Recombinant Human Parathyroid Hormone (7-84) N15 Labeled is a synthetic form of the parathyroid hormone that has been labeled with the stable isotope nitrogen-15 for research purposes. Belonging to the family of hormones that regulate calcium and phosphorus levels in the body, this specific hormone fragment has a molecular weight of approximately 9,500 Daltons. Its labeled form allows for tracking and studying its behavior in biological systems, making it a valuable tool for scientific investigations related to bone metabolism and mineral homeostasis.

Storage Instruction

Lyophilized PTH (7-84) N15 although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution PTH (7-84) N15 should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).

Sample Prep Instruction

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized PTH (7-84) N15 in sterile water not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
