PTH (1-84) N15

Alternative Names: Parathormone, PTH, Parathyrin

Parathyroid hormone (PTH) is an 84 amino acid polypeptide secreted by the parathyroid glands. It functions to elevate blood calcium levels, contrasting with calcitonin produced by the thyroid gland which lowers calcium levels. PTH exerts its effects by binding to parathyroid hormone receptors in three key areas of the body: bones, kidneys, and intestines. In bones, PTH enhances calcium release by inducing bone resorption through osteoclast activation by osteoblasts. In the kidneys, PTH increases active calcium reabsorption. In the intestines, PTH promotes calcium absorption by stimulating the production of vitamin D and upregulating the enzyme responsible for converting inactive vitamin D to its active form. Recombinant Human full length PTH 1-84 shows promise as a treatment for osteoporosis by stimulating bone formation and reducing fractures.

Product Description

Recombinant Human Parathyroid Hormone (1-84) N15 Labeled is a synthetic form of the parathyroid hormone, belonging to the family of hormones responsible for regulating calcium and phosphate levels in the body. With a molecular weight of approximately 9.4 kDa, this labeled hormone is commonly used in research studies to track the movement and metabolism of parathyroid hormone in biological systems. Its N15 labeling allows for precise tracking and measurement of the hormone's activity in various experimental settings.

Storage Instruction

Lyophilized Parathyrin although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution PTH should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Parathormone in sterile 18MΩ-cm H2O not less than 100 µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
