PTH (1-34)

Alternative Names: Parathormone, PTH, Parathyrin

Parathyroid hormone (PTH) is a polypeptide secreted by the parathyroid glands containing 84 amino acids. It functions to increase calcium levels in the blood, contrasting with calcitonin which decreases calcium concentration. PTH acts upon parathyroid hormone receptor in three main areas of the body: the bones, kidneys, and intestines. In the bones, PTH enhances the release of calcium by stimulating osteoblasts to increase expression of RANKL, which binds to osteoclast precursors and stimulates bone resorption. In the kidneys, PTH promotes active reabsorption of calcium. In the intestine, PTH enhances calcium absorption by increasing vitamin D production and upregulating the enzyme responsible for converting vitamin D to its active form. Recombinant Human full length PTH 1-84 may serve as an anti-osteoporotic agent by stimulating bone formation, increasing bone turnover, and reducing fractures.

Product Description

Recombinant Human Parathyroid Hormone (1-34) is a synthetic form of parathyroid hormone that belongs to the family of endocrine hormones. With a molecular weight of approximately 4117.8 Daltons, this hormone plays a crucial role in regulating calcium and phosphate levels in the body. Its primary function is to stimulate bone formation and increase the absorption of calcium in the intestines. Recombinant Human Parathyroid Hormone (1-34) is commonly used in the treatment of osteoporosis to promote bone growth and reduce the risk of fractures.

Product Guarantee

If your product is within its expiration period, and has not performed according to expectations, fill out the sample return form. Return the unused sample frozen, with the auto generated packing slip to the address on the instructions. You will receive a full refund along with a replacement of the unused portion (inclusive of the failed test). Damages do not cover any additional costs incurred for failed experimentation.

Amino Acid Sequence

Ser-Val-Ser-Glu-Ile-Gln-Leu-Met-His-Asn-Leu-Gly-Lys-His-Leu-Asn-Ser-Met-Glu-Arg-Val-Glu-Trp-Leu-Arg-Lys-Lys-Leu-Gln-Asp-Val-His-Asn-Phe.

Storage Instruction

Lyophilized Parathyrin although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution PTH should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Parathormone in sterile 18MΩ-cm H2O not less than 100 µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
