PSG5

Alternative Names: Pregnancy-Specific Beta-1 Glycoprotein, Pregnancy-Specific Beta-1-Glycoprotein 5, Pregnancy-Specific Beta-1-Glycoprotein 5, Pregnancy-Specific Beta-1-Glycoprotein 5, Fetal Liver Non-Specific Cross-Reactive Antigen 3, FL-NCA-3, PS-beta-G-5, PSBG-5, PSG.

PSG5 is a member of the PSG family, a group of secreted glycoproteins highly expressed in fetal placental syncytiotrophoblast cells. PSGs can be detected in the serum as early as the first 2-3 weeks of pregnancy and their levels increase as the pregnancy progresses. At term, PSGs are the most abundant fetal protein found in maternal blood. PSG5 plays a crucial role in stimulating the secretion of TH2-type cytokines from monocytes and modulating the maternal immune system during pregnancy. This immune modulation helps protect the semi-allotypic fetus from rejection.

Product Description

Recombinant Human Pregnancy Specific Beta-1-Glycoprotein 5 (PSG5) is a protein that belongs to the pregnancy-specific glycoprotein (PSG) family. PSGs are secreted by the placenta during pregnancy and play a role in modulating the maternal immune system. PSG5 has a molecular weight of approximately X kDa and is involved in various biological processes related to pregnancy, including immunomodulation and fetal development. Understanding the functions and characteristics of PSG5 can provide valuable insights into the complex mechanisms underlying successful pregnancies.

Storage Instruction

Reconstituted store at -20°C or -80°C.We recommend that single use aliquots are prepared to avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

1. Thaw the vial on ice, spin briefly
2. Prepare single-use or stock aliquots. This stage will depend on your final application so please adapt as appropriate. All our proteins are supplied carrier protein-free. If compatible with your work and you are storing at lower concentrations (<50 ug/ml) adding carrier protein is highly advised (usually 1% w/v high purity BSA or equivalent – ensure all buffers are sterile-filtered).
3. Prepare single-use aliquots whenever possible to avoid freeze-thaw cycles which can damage the proteins and reduce bioactivity. Store aliquots at -70 °C (or -20 °C)
4. We recommend sterile filtering after dilution in media or the final working solution
