PLA2G2E

Alternative Names: Group IIE secretory phospholipase A2, GIIE sPLA2, sPLA(2)-IIE, sPLA2-IIE, PLA2G2E, Phosphatidylcholine 2-acylhydrolase GIIE, EC 3.1.1.4.

Phospholipase A2 (PLA2) breaks down glycerophospholipids in cell membranes to release arachidonic acid (AA), which can be used to produce prostaglandins and leukotrienes. Additionally, this process creates lysophosholipids, another type of lipid mediator. The secretory PLA2 (sPLA2) family includes 10 different enzymes that require calcium and have various biological functions, such as influencing eicosanoid production, inflammation, and host defense. In the context of atherosclerosis, sPLA2 can break down phosphatidylcholine in lipoproteins in the arterial wall, leading to the accumulation of bioactive lipids and modified lipoproteins. Studies in mice have shown that sPLA2 expression affects the size and composition of HDL particles, and an increase in sPLA2 is necessary for the reduction in HDL cholesterol levels in response to inflammation. When bacteria were introduced into rats' bronchi, there was evidence of surfactant degradation and changes in the ratio of surfactant aggregates.

Product Description

Recombinant Human Secreted Phospholipase A2-IIE is a member of the phospholipase A2 enzyme family, which plays a key role in lipid metabolism and inflammation. This enzyme has a molecular weight of approximately 14 kDa and is involved in the hydrolysis of phospholipids to release fatty acids and lysophospholipids. Recombinant Human Secreted Phospholipase A2-IIE is often used in research studies to investigate its biological functions and potential therapeutic applications.

Storage Instruction

Store lyophilized protein at -20°C. Aliquot the product after reconstitution to avoid repeated freezing/thawing cycles. Reconstituted protein can be stored at 4°C for a limited period of time; it does not show any change after two weeks at 4°C. Store lyophilized protein at -20°C. Sample Prep Instruction

Add 0.2 ml of 0.1M Acetate buffer pH-4 and let the lyophilized pellet dissolve completely. For conversion into higher pH value, we recommend intensive dilution by relevant buffer to a concentration of 10 μg/ml. In higher concentrations the solubility of this antigen is limited.
