Product Description
The Recombinant Human Polymeric Immunoglobulin Receptor (pIgR) is a protein that plays a critical role in the transportation of immunoglobulins across mucosal surfaces. Belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily, pIgR is a transmembrane glycoprotein with a molecular weight of approximately 80-90 kDa. This receptor is primarily expressed in epithelial cells of mucosal tissues such as the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and urogenital tracts. By binding to immunoglobulins, pIgR facilitates their transport from the basolateral to the apical side of epithelial cells, enabling their secretion into mucosal secretions. This mechanism is vital for the protection of mucosal surfaces against pathogens and contributes to the maintenance of immune homeostasis.
