mBLVRB

Alternative Names:

Flavin reductase (NADPH), FR, NADPH-flavin reductase, FLR, Biliverdin reductase B, BVR-B, Biliverdin-IX beta-reductase, NADPH-dependent diaphorase.

BLVRB (EC 1.3.1.24) is an enzyme that plays a crucial role in electron transfer from reduced pyridine nucleotides to various substrates such as flavins, methylene blue, pyrroloquinoline quinone, riboflavin, or methemoglobin. It is involved in protecting cells from oxidative damage and regulating iron metabolism. BLVRB converts biliverdin to bilirubin by changing a double-bond between the second and third pyrrole ring into a single-bond. This enzyme is important in the human erythrocytic heme catabolic pathway and is found in most mammalian species. Biliverdin reductase is prominently expressed in the kidney, spleen, liver, and brain, with lower levels detected in the thymus and minimal levels in the testis.

Product Description

Recombinant Mouse Biliverdin Reductase B is a member of the biliverdin reductase family, which plays a key role in the conversion of biliverdin to bilirubin. This enzyme is essential for the breakdown of heme and the regulation of oxidative stress in cells. Recombinant Mouse Biliverdin Reductase B has a molecular weight of approximately 35 kDa and is commonly used in research studies to investigate its role in various biological processes.

Storage Instruction

Reconstituted store at -20°C or -80°C.We recommend that single use aliquots are prepared to avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

1. Thaw the vial on ice, spin briefly
2. Prepare single-use or stock aliquots. This stage will depend on your final application so please adapt as appropriate. All our proteins are supplied carrier protein-free. If compatible with your work and you are storing at lower concentrations (<50 ug/ml) adding carrier protein is highly advised (usually 1% w/v high purity BSA or equivalent – ensure all buffers are sterile-filtered).
3. Prepare single-use aliquots whenever possible to avoid freeze-thaw cycles which can damage the proteins and reduce bioactivity. Store aliquots at -70 °C (or -20 °C)
4. We recommend sterile filtering after dilution in media or the final working solution
