maIL16

Alternative Names: IL16, Interleukin-16, LCF, Lymphocyte Chemoattractant Factor, prIL-16, FLJ16806, FLJ42735, FLJ44234, HsT19289.

IL-16 is a pleiotropic cytokine that has multiple functions including being a chemoattractant, a modulator of T cell activation, and an inhibitor of HIV replication. The CD4 receptor is responsible for mediating the signaling of IL-16. The proteolytic processing of the IL-16 gene results in the production of two functional proteins. The secreted C-terminal peptide is responsible for the exclusive functions of IL-16, while the N-terminal product may have a role in controlling the cell cycle. Caspase 3 is reported to be involved in the proteolytic processing of IL-16. Different isoforms of the IL-16 gene have been identified with two transcript variants. IL-16 promotes migration of CD4+ lymphocytes, monocytes, and eosinophils and also induces the expression of interleukin 2 receptor, which is a ligand for CD4 on T-lymphocytes.

Product Description

Recombinant Rhesus Macaque Interleukin-16 is a protein that plays a significant role in immune response modulation. Belonging to the cytokine family, it acts as a chemotactic factor for various immune cells, including CD4+ T lymphocytes. With a molecular weight of approximately X kilodaltons, this protein exhibits chemotactic activity by binding to its receptor, CD4, and subsequently attracting immune cells to the site of inflammation. Understanding the properties and functions of Recombinant Rhesus Macaque Interleukin-16 contributes to the comprehension of immune system regulation and holds potential in therapeutic applications.

Storage Instruction

Lyophilized IL-16 although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution IL-16 should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C.Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized ;IL-16 in sterile 18M-cm H₂O not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
