KLK1 His

Alternative Names: KLK1, KLK-1, KLKR, KLK6, Tissue Kallikrein, hKLK1, EC 3.4.21.35, Kidney/pancreas/salivary gland kallikrein, Kallikrein-1, HK1, HK-1

Kallikreins, a group of serine protease enzymes, have various physiological functions and are being studied for their potential role as cancer biomarkers. One member of this enzyme family, KLK1, is located on chromosome 19 and is known to release the vasoactive peptide Lys-bradykinin. Human Kallikrein-1, also known as Kallidinogenase or Kininogenase, is found in saliva, pancreatic juices, and urine, where it catalyzes the proteolysis of bradykininogen to bradykinin. KLK1, derived from humans or pigs, has been used in the treatment of mild to moderate hypertension and cerebral blood vessel blockage. KLK1 has specific preferences at different binding sites and has been associated with hypertension in certain populations. Though KLK1 is not involved in the kallikrein-kinins pathway activation in carotid arteriosclerosis, it plays a role in maintaining circulation homeostasis and participates in epidermal desquamation.

Product Description

Recombinant Human Kallikrein-1, His Tag is a member of the kallikrein family of serine proteases. This protein plays a role in the regulation of blood pressure and inflammation by cleaving kininogen to release bradykinin. With a molecular weight of approximately 28 kDa, Recombinant Human Kallikrein-1, His Tag is commonly used in research studies to investigate its physiological functions and potential therapeutic applications.

Storage Instruction

Reconstituted store at -20°C or -80°C.We recommend that single use aliquots are prepared to avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

1. Thaw the vial on ice, spin briefly
2. Prepare single-use or stock aliquots. This stage will depend on your final application so please adapt as appropriate. All our proteins are supplied carrier protein-free. If compatible with your work and you are storing at lower concentrations (<50 ug/ml) adding carrier protein is highly advised (usually 1% w/v high purity BSA or equivalent – ensure all buffers are sterile-filtered).
3. Prepare single-use aliquots whenever possible to avoid freeze-thaw cycles which can damage the proteins and reduce bioactivity. Store aliquots at -70 °C (or -20 °C)
4. We recommend sterile filtering after dilution in media or the final working solution
