HSD17B14

Alternative Names: 17-beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase 14, 17-beta-HSD 14, 17-beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase DHRS10, Dehydrogenase/reductase SDR family member 10, HSD17B14, DHRS10, Retinal short-chain dehydrogenase/reductase retSDR3, SDR3, SDR47C1, retSDR3.

HSD17B14 is a protein that belongs to the 17-beta-HSD family, involved in regulating steroid levels in tissues. It metabolizes steroids at the C17 position as well as other substances like fatty acids, prostaglandins, and xenobiotics. HSD17B14 is found as a homotetramer in the cytoplasm and is abundantly present in the brain, placenta, liver, and kidney.

Product Description

Recombinant Human Hydroxysteroid (17-beta) Dehydrogenase 14, also known as HSD17B14, is a member of the short-chain dehydrogenases/reductases (SDR) family. This enzyme plays a role in the conversion of hydroxysteroids to ketosteroids, specifically in the metabolism of androgens and estrogens. Recombinant Human HSD17B14 has a molecular weight of approximately 33 kDa and is involved in the regulation of steroid hormone levels in the body.

Storage Instruction

Reconstituted store at -20°C or -80°C.We recommend that single use aliquots are prepared to avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

1. Thaw the vial on ice, spin briefly
2. Prepare single-use or stock aliquots. This stage will depend on your final application so please adapt as appropriate. All our proteins are supplied carrier protein-free. If compatible with your work and you are storing at lower concentrations (<50 ug/ml) adding carrier protein is highly advised (usually 1% w/v high purity BSA or equivalent – ensure all buffers are sterile-filtered).
3. Prepare single-use aliquots whenever possible to avoid freeze-thaw cycles which can damage the proteins and reduce bioactivity. Store aliquots at -70 °C (or -20 °C)
4. We recommend sterile filtering after dilution in media or the final working solution
