GSTT1

Alternative Names: Glutathione S-transferase theta-1, GSTT1, GST class-theta-1, Glutathione transferase T1-1

GSTT1 is part of a protein superfamily that helps attach reduced glutathione to various reactive and hydrophobic compounds. It is one of four main classes of GST enzymes, along with alpha, mu, and pi. GSTT1 plays a role in both activation and detoxification processes, facilitating the conjugation of industrial chemicals like epoxybutane and halomethane with glutathione. It is present in erythrocytes, with lower levels in the liver and cells in the lung. Approximately 38% of the population is deficient in the GSTT1 gene, which can impact the risk of developing certain conditions such as aplastic anemia and leukemia. Different phenotypes, GSTT1+ and GSTT1-, correspond to the presence or absence of the GSTT1 gene and have implications for enzyme function. Individuals with GSTT1-null genotypes may have an increased risk of developing leukoplakia, while a genetic variation in GSTT1 has been associated with breast cancer.

Product Description

Recombinant Human Glutathione S-Transferase Theta-1 is a member of the glutathione S-transferase (GST) family, a group of enzymes involved in detoxification processes by catalyzing the conjugation of glutathione to various substrates. With a molecular weight of approximately 26 kDa, Recombinant Human Glutathione S-Transferase Theta-1 plays a crucial role in the metabolism of xenobiotics and endogenous compounds, making it a valuable tool in biochemical research and drug development.

Product Guarantee

If your product is within its expiration period, and has not performed according to expectations, fill out the sample return form. Return the unused sample frozen, with the auto generated packing slip to the address on the instructions. You will receive a full refund along with a replacement of the unused portion (inclusive of the failed test). Damages do not cover any additional costs incurred for failed experimentation.

Storage Instruction

Reconstituted store at -20°C or -80°C.We recommend that single use aliquots are prepared to avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

1. Thaw the vial on ice, spin briefly
2. Prepare single-use or stock aliquots. This stage will depend on your final application so please adapt as appropriate. All our proteins are supplied carrier protein-free. If compatible with your work and you are storing at lower concentrations (<50 ug/ml) adding carrier protein is highly advised (usually 1% w/v high purity BSA or equivalent – ensure all buffers are sterile-filtered).
3. Prepare single-use aliquots whenever possible to avoid freeze-thaw cycles which can damage the proteins and reduce bioactivity. Store aliquots at -70 °C (or -20 °C)
4. We recommend sterile filtering after dilution in media or the final working solution
