FKBP4

Alternative Names: HBI, Hsp56, PPIase, FKBP4, FKBP52, FKBP59, FKBP52 protein, FK506-binding protein 4, Peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase, HSP-binding immunophilin, 52 kDa FK506-binding protein, p52, p59 protein.

FKBP4 is a member of the immunophilin protein family, playing a role in immunoregulation and cellular processes related to protein folding and trafficking. It acts as a cis-trans prolyl isomerase and binds to immunosuppressants FK506 and rapamycin. While it is structurally similar to FKBP1A, FKBP4 lacks immunosuppressant activity with FK506. FKBP4 interacts with phytanoyl-CoA alpha-hydroxylase and is involved in the intracellular trafficking of steroid hormone receptors through its association with HSP90 & HSP70. Additionally, FKBP4 has been found to significantly enhance AAV-mediated transgene expression in human cell lines, making it a valuable component in human gene therapy using AAV vectors.

Product Description

Recombinant Human FK506 Binding Protein 4, also known as FKBP4, is a member of the FKBP family of proteins. It is a molecular chaperone that plays a role in protein folding and trafficking within the cell. FKBP4 has a molecular weight of approximately 51 kDa and is involved in various cellular processes, including regulation of the immune response and modulation of protein-protein interactions. This protein is commonly used in research studies to investigate its functions and potential therapeutic applications.

Storage Instruction

Reconstituted store at -20°C or -80°C.We recommend that single use aliquots are prepared to avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

1. Thaw the vial on ice, spin briefly
2. Prepare single-use or stock aliquots. This stage will depend on your final application so please adapt as appropriate. All our proteins are supplied carrier protein-free. If compatible with your work and you are storing at lower concentrations (<50 ug/ml) adding carrier protein is highly advised (usually 1% w/v high purity BSA or equivalent – ensure all buffers are sterile-filtered).
3. Prepare single-use aliquots whenever possible to avoid freeze-thaw cycles which can damage the proteins and reduce bioactivity. Store aliquots at -70 °C (or -20 °C)
4. We recommend sterile filtering after dilution in media or the final working solution
