Basic fibroblast growth factor, a member of the FGF family, has mitogenic and cell survival activities and is involved in various biological processes like embryonic development, cell growth, tissue repair, and tumor growth. It is a key regulator of endothelial cell migration and proliferation, and acts as an angiogenic factor. It promotes cell growth and is implicated in organ development. Three isoforms of this protein have been identified, and it is known to be potent in promoting cell growth in vitro. The distribution and concentration of this growth factor differ from other HPR-binding growth factors.

Storage Instruction

Lyophilized Fibroblast Growth Factor-2 although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution FGF-b should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Fibroblast Growth Factor Basic in sterile 18MΩ-cm H2O not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
