FABP6

Alternative Names: I-BABP, I-BAP, I-BALB, I-BABP, ILBP, ILLBP, ILBP3, I-15P, FABP-6, Gastrotropin, Intestinal bile acid-binding protein, Intestinal lipid-binding protein, Intestinal 15 kDa protein, Fatty acid-binding protein 6, FABP6.

FABP6, or ileal fatty acid binding protein, is a cytoplasmic protein that binds long-chain fatty acids and other hydrophobic ligands. It also binds bile acid and plays a role in fatty acid uptake, transport, and metabolism. FABP6 stimulates gastric acid and pepsinogen secretion, and is able to bind to bile salts and bilirubins. Its expression is limited to the small intestine's ileum area, where it is involved in the circulation of bile acids. FABP6 has alternate transcription promoters that produce two transcript variants, encoding proteins of different lengths. The isoform 2 of the human FABP6 contains 128 amino acid residues and is acetylated on Ala2. FABP6 binds fatty acids and bile acids together, and directly participates in their transport and metabolism.

Product Description

Recombinant Human Fatty Acid Binding Protein-6 (FABP6), belonging to the fatty acid binding protein family, is a protein with a molecular weight of approximately X kDa. FABP6 plays a significant role in the transportation of bile acids in the enterohepatic circulation. It exhibits high affinity towards bile acids, facilitating their uptake and intracellular transport within the hepatocytes and intestinal epithelial cells. FABP6's involvement in bile acid metabolism makes it a potential target for therapeutic interventions aimed at modulating cholesterol homeostasis and related disorders.

Product Guarantee

If your product is within its expiration period, and has not performed according to expectations, fill out the sample return form. Return the unused sample frozen, with the auto generated packing slip to the address on the instructions. You will receive a full refund along with a replacement of the unused portion (inclusive of the failed test). Damages do not cover any additional costs incurred for failed experimentation.

Storage Instruction

Reconstituted store at -20°C or -80°C.We recommend that single use aliquots are prepared to avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

1. Thaw the vial on ice, spin briefly
2. Prepare single-use or stock aliquots. This stage will depend on your final application so please adapt as appropriate. All our proteins are supplied carrier protein-free. If compatible with your work and you are storing at lower concentrations (<50 ug/ml) adding carrier protein is highly advised (usually 1% w/v high purity BSA or equivalent – ensure all buffers are sterile-filtered).
3. Prepare single-use aliquots whenever possible to avoid freeze-thaw cycles which can damage the proteins and reduce bioactivity. Store aliquots at -70 °C (or -20 °C)
4. We recommend sterile filtering after dilution in media or the final working solution
