FABP5

Alternative Names: Fatty acid-binding protein epidermal, Fatty acid-binding protein 5, Psoriasis-associated fatty acid-binding protein homolog, E-FABP, PA-FABP, FABP5, EFABP, PAFABP.

Human Fatty Epidermal Acid Binding Protein (FABP-5) is a 15 kD intracellular protein that belongs to the FABP family. FABPs are known for their ability to bind fatty acids, bile acids, and retinoids in an internal cavity. Two closely related proteins, aP2 (FABP-4) and mal1 (EFABP), are also expressed in adipocytes.

Product Description

Recombinant Human Fatty Acid Binding Protein-5 (FABP5) is a protein that belongs to the fatty acid binding protein (FABP) family. With a molecular weight of approximately 15 kDa, FABP5 plays a significant role in cellular lipid metabolism and transport. It exhibits high affinity for binding long-chain fatty acids and is predominantly expressed in various tissues, including skin, adipose tissue, and mammary glands. FABP5's involvement in intracellular fatty acid trafficking and its potential implications in various physiological and pathological processes make it a subject of scientific interest.
