FABP4 His

Alternative Names: Fatty acid-binding protein adipocyte, Fatty acid-binding protein 4, Adipocyte lipid-binding protein, AFABP, ALBP, A-FABP, FABP4.

Adipocyte fatty acid binding protein FABP4 is a member of the intracellular FABP family, known for its ability to bind fatty acids and related compounds. FABP4 is primarily expressed in adipocytes and plays a crucial role in regulating their biological function. In mice, mutations in FABP4 offer significant protection against hyperinsulinemia and insulin resistance in obesity. FABP4-deficient mice also have reduced lipid breakdown efficiency and improved dyslipidemia. Recent studies have shown that FABP4 is expressed in differentiating and activated macrophages, where it modulates inflammatory responses and cholesterol accumulation. Deficiency of FABP4, either overall or specifically in macrophages, provides strong protection against atherosclerosis in mice lacking apoE. These findings highlight the central role of FABP4 in the development of metabolic syndrome components through its actions in adipocytes and macrophages.

Product Description

Recombinant Human Fatty Acid Binding Protein-4, His Tag is a protein that belongs to the fatty acid binding protein (FABP) family. With a molecular weight of approximately X kDa, it plays a significant role in the intracellular transport and metabolism of fatty acids. This protein exhibits a high affinity for binding long-chain fatty acids and is involved in their uptake, transport, and utilization within cells. Its His tag allows for easy purification and detection in various experimental settings. Understanding the functional properties of Recombinant Human Fatty Acid Binding Protein-4, His Tag contributes to unraveling the intricate mechanisms underlying fatty acid metabolism.

Storage Instruction

Reconstituted store at -20°C or -80°C.We recommend that single use aliquots are prepared to avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

1. Thaw the vial on ice, spin briefly
2. Prepare single-use or stock aliquots. This stage will depend on your final application so please adapt as appropriate. All our proteins are supplied carrier protein-free. If compatible with your work and you are storing at lower concentrations (<50 ug/ml) adding carrier protein is highly advised (usually 1% w/v high purity BSA or equivalent – ensure all buffers are sterile-filtered).
3. Prepare single-use aliquots whenever possible to avoid freeze-thaw cycles which can damage the proteins and reduce bioactivity. Store aliquots at -70 °C (or -20 °C)
4. We recommend sterile filtering after dilution in media or the final working solution
