EREG

Alternative Names: Epiregulin, EREG, ER.

Epiregulin, a member of the EGF family, acts as a ligand for the EGFR and most members of the ERBB family of tyrosine-kinase receptors. It is primarily expressed in the placenta, peripheral blood leukocytes, and specific carcinomas of the bladder, lung, kidney, and colon. Epiregulin stimulates the proliferation of various cell types, including keratinocytes, hepatocytes, fibroblasts, and vascular smooth muscle cells, while also inhibiting the growth of certain tumor-derived epithelial cell lines. The human Epiregulin is initially produced as a glycosylated 19.0 kDa transmembrane precursor protein, which undergoes proteolytic cleavage to produce a 6.0 kDa mature secreted sequence.

Product Description

Recombinant Human Epiregulin is a protein belonging to the epidermal growth factor (EGF) family, known for its role in cell proliferation and differentiation. With a molecular weight of approximately 6.2 kDa, this protein plays a crucial role in various cellular processes, including wound healing and tissue regeneration. Recombinant Human Epiregulin is commonly used in research and therapeutic applications due to its potent mitogenic and cell survival properties.

Storage Instruction

Lyophilized Epiregulin although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution Epiregulin should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Epiregulin in sterile 18MΩ-cm H2O not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
