PDGF-BB, a member of the platelet-derived growth factor family, acts as a mitogenic factor for mesenchymal cells and contains a motif of eight cysteines. It can form homodimers or heterodimers with PDGF-AB, connected by disulfide bonds. Mutations in the PDGF-BB gene are linked to meningioma, while reciprocal translocations between chromosomes 22 and 7 can lead to dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans due to unregulated growth factor expression. Two splice variants of this gene have been identified.

Storage Instruction

Lyophilized PDGF-BB although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18° C. Upon reconstitution PDGF-BB Human should be stored at 4° C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18° C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized PDGF-BB in sterile water at a concentration of 0.1 mg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
