EMAP II

Alternative Names: AIMP1, EMAP2, EMAP-2, EMAPII, SCYE1, Multisynthetase complex auxiliary component p43, Endothelial monocyte-activating polypeptide 2, EMAP-II, p43.

EMAP-II, also known as SCYE1, is a cytokine produced by tumors that affects endothelial cells, monocytes, and neutrophils. It inhibits endothelial cell proliferation, vasculogenesis, and neovessel formation, while also inducing apoptosis. Additionally, it attracts neutrophils and monocytes and activates myeloperoxidase in neutrophils. EMAP-II is useful in inhibiting angiogenesis and tumor growth without affecting normal tissues. It is specifically induced by apoptosis and plays a role in angiogenesis, inflammation, and wound healing. SCYE1 makes tumor-associated blood vessels sensitive to tumor necrosis factor. The precursor protein of EMAP-II is the same as the p43 subunit, which is involved in the control of aminoacylation activity of tRNA synthetase in normal cells. After proteolytic cleavage in tumor cells, EMAP-II stimulates inflammatory responses.

Product Description

Recombinant Human Endothelial-Monocyte Activating Polypeptide II (EMAP-II) is a protein belonging to the cytokine family. With a molecular weight of approximately 18 kDa, EMAP-II plays a role in the activation of monocytes and endothelial cells, contributing to the regulation of inflammation and immune responses. This protein is produced through recombinant DNA technology, making it a valuable tool for research and therapeutic applications in various disease states.

Storage Instruction

Lyophilized EMAP-II although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution EMAP-II should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C. Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized EMAP-II in sterile 18MΩ-cm H2O not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
