EIF3K

Alternative Names: C12orf5, Fructose-2,6-bisphosphatase TIGAR, TP53-induced glycolysis and apoptosis regulator, TIGAR.

TIGAR is an enzyme that is activated by p53 and it breaks down fructose-2-6 bisphosphate (F-2-6-BP) into fructose-6-phosphate and inorganic phosphate. F-2-6-BP is a strong activator of 6-phosphofructose-1 kinase, which is the enzyme that controls the rate of glycolysis. When TIGAR is expressed, it reduces the amount of F-2-6-BP in the cell, leading to an increase in glucose processing through the pentose phosphate pathway, which is the main source of NADPH in the cell.

Product Description

Recombinant Human Eukaryotic Translation Initiation Factor 3K (eIF3K) is a protein that plays a significant role in the initiation of protein synthesis in eukaryotic cells. Belonging to the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 (eIF3) family, eIF3K is involved in the assembly of the eIF3 complex, which is essential for the recognition of the mRNA start codon and the recruitment of ribosomes. With a molecular weight of approximately X kDa, eIF3K contributes to the regulation of translation initiation, thereby influencing various cellular processes.

Storage Instruction

Lyophilized TIGAR stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18C. Upon reconstitution TIGAR should be stored at 4C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized TIGAR in sterile 18M-cm H₂O not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
