EGLN3, with a molecular weight of approximately X kDa, is involved in the regulation of hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) stability, an essential transcription factor in the cellular adaptation to low oxygen levels. By hydroxylating specific proline residues on HIF, EGLN3 facilitates its recognition by the von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) tumor suppressor protein, leading to HIF degradation.
