EGFR Sf9

Alternative Names: Epidermal growth factor receptor, Receptor tyrosine-protein kinase ErbB-1, ERBB, ERBB1, EGFR, mENA, EC 2.7.10.1.

The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGF R) subfamily consists of four members: EGF R (also known as HER1, ErbB1 or ErbB), ErbB2 (Neu, HER-2), ErbB3 (HER-3), and ErbB4 (HER-4). These receptors are transmembrane glycoproteins that have an extracellular domain containing two cysteine-rich domains separated by a spacer region involved in ligand-binding. The cytoplasmic domain has a tyrosine kinase domain and a C-terminal tail with multiple tyrosine autophosphorylation sites. The human EGF R gene encodes a precursor protein with a putative signal peptide, an extracellular domain, a transmembrane domain, and a cytoplasmic domain. EGF R can bind several ligands, inducing homodimerization and heterodimerization with other receptors, resulting in kinase activation, tyrosine phosphorylation, and cell signaling. EGF R signaling regulates various cellular functions, including cell proliferation, differentiation, motility, apoptosis, and carcinogenesis.

Product Description

Recombinant Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor-Sf9 is a protein that belongs to the family of epidermal growth factor receptors (EGFRs). It plays a vital role in cell growth, proliferation, and differentiation. This protein is commonly used in scientific research and biotechnology applications. With a weight of approximately X kilodaltons (kDa), Recombinant Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor-Sf9 exhibits a specific binding affinity for epidermal growth factor (EGF) and other ligands, allowing for the activation of downstream signaling pathways. Its characterization and study contribute to a better understanding of cellular mechanisms and potential therapeutic approaches, particularly in the field of cancer research.

Storage Instruction

Lyophilized EGFR although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution EGFR should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C.For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized EGFR in sterile PBS not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
