Desmin

Alternative Names: CMD1I, CSM1, CSM2, DES, Desmin, FLJ12025, FLJ39719, FLJ41013, FLJ41793.

Desmin is a type of intermediate filament specific to muscles. These filaments, composed of the same protein, create a robust network within the cell, connecting myofibrils to each other and to the outer membrane. Mutations in the desmin gene are linked to desmin-related myopathy, a hereditary condition affecting both the heart and skeletal muscles, as well as distal myopathies.

Storage Instruction

Store the lyophilized Desmin between 2-8° C, do not freeze. Upon reconstitution Desmin should be stored at -20° C. Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Desmin in sterile 18MΩ-cm H2O not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
