CSNK1A1

Alternative Names: CKI-alpha, CK1, CSNK1A1, Casein kinase I isoform alpha, HLCDGP1, PRO2975.

Caseine Kinase 1 alpha (CK1α) is part of the protein kinase superfamily, specifically the CK1 Ser/Thr protein kinase family, specifically the Casein kinase I subfamily. CK1α and its isoforms (alpha, beta, gamma, delta, epsilon) play important roles in various cellular processes such as membrane trafficking, circadian rhythm regulation, cell cycle progression, chromosome segregation, apoptosis, and cellular differentiation. CSNK1A1, or CK1α, is known to phosphorylate numerous proteins and is involved in Wnt signaling, where it phosphorylates CTNNB1 at Ser45. Additionally, CSNK1A1 interacts with the Axin complex.

Product Description

Recombinant Human Casein Kinase 1 alpha 1 (CK1α1) is a protein enzyme that belongs to the Casein Kinase 1 (CK1) family. CK1α1 is involved in various cellular processes, including cell division, circadian rhythm regulation, and signal transduction. With a molecular weight of approximately 42 kDa, CK1α1 plays a significant role in phosphorylation events within the cell. Its enzymatic activity and substrate specificity contribute to the regulation of numerous cellular pathways. Understanding the functional characteristics of CK1α1 is crucial for deciphering its role in cellular processes and potential implications in various diseases.

Storage Instruction

Reconstituted store at -20°C or -80°C.We recommend that single use aliquots are prepared to avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

1. Thaw the vial on ice, spin briefly
2. Prepare single-use or stock aliquots. This stage will depend on your final application so please adapt as appropriate. All our proteins are supplied carrier protein-free. If compatible with your work and you are storing at lower concentrations (<50 ug/ml) adding carrier protein is highly advised (usually 1% w/v high purity BSA or equivalent – ensure all buffers are sterile-filtered).
3. Prepare single-use aliquots whenever possible to avoid freeze-thaw cycles which can damage the proteins and reduce bioactivity. Store aliquots at -70 °C (or -20 °C)
4. We recommend sterile filtering after dilution in media or the final working solution
