CSF2RA is a gene that encodes the alpha subunit of the receptor for colony stimulating factor 2, a cytokine responsible for regulating the function of granulocytes and macrophages. CSF2RA is part of the cytokine receptor family and is located in the pseudoautosomal region of the X and Y chromosomes. Various transcript variants exist, encoding different isoforms of the gene, some of which are membrane-bound and others are soluble.
