CRYGC

Alternative Names: Crystallin, gamma C, CRYG3, Gamma-crystallin 2-1, Gamma-crystallin 3, CCL.

CRYGC is a member of the beta/gamma-crystallin family, which is part of the larger mammalian lens crystallin family. The beta and gamma crystallins are considered a superfamily. Gamma-crystallins are a group of symmetrical, monomeric proteins that lack connecting peptides and terminal extensions. They are regulated differently after early development. There are three pseudogenes (gamma-E, F, G) and four intact gamma-crystallin genes (gamma-A, B, C, D) arranged in a gene cluster in the genome. Gamma-crystallins play a role in cataract formation due to aging or mutations in specific genes. Mutations in CRYGC cause two types of cataracts: cataract Coppock-like (CCL) and cataract autosomal dominant (ADC).

Product Description

Recombinant Human Crystallin, Gamma C is a protein that belongs to the crystallin family. With a molecular weight of [insert weight], it plays a significant role in maintaining the transparency and refractive properties of the lens in the human eye. This protein is involved in the formation and organization of lens fibers, contributing to the overall structure and function of the lens. Recombinant Human Crystallin, Gamma C is widely utilized in scientific research and pharmaceutical applications due to its importance in understanding lens development, cataract formation, and potential therapeutic interventions.

Storage Instruction

Reconstituted store at -20°C or -80°C.We recommend that single use aliquots are prepared to avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

1. Thaw the vial on ice, spin briefly
2. Prepare single-use or stock aliquots. This stage will depend on your final application so please adapt as appropriate. All our proteins are supplied carrier protein-free. If compatible with your work and you are storing at lower concentrations (<50 ug/ml) adding carrier protein is highly advised (usually 1% w/v high purity BSA or equivalent – ensure all buffers are sterile-filtered).
3. Prepare single-use aliquots whenever possible to avoid freeze-thaw cycles which can damage the proteins and reduce bioactivity. Store aliquots at -70 °C (or -20 °C)
4. We recommend sterile filtering after dilution in media or the final working solution
