CRYBB1

Alternative Names: CATCN3, Beta-B1 crystallin, EC 1.17.4.1, RR2M

Crystallins are essential for maintaining the transparency and refractive index of the eye lens. They are categorized into three protein families: α, β, and γ. These crystallins are highly stable as they are prepared early in life and retained throughout an individual's lifespan in the absence of nuclei in lens central fiber cells. CRYBB1, a member of the beta basic group, undergoes significant cleavage at its N-terminal extension during the maturation of the lens.

Product Description

Recombinant Human Crystallin Beta B1 is a protein that belongs to the crystallin family, a group of proteins found in the lens of the eye. With a weight of approximately X kDa, this protein plays a significant role in maintaining the transparency and refractive properties of the lens. Recombinant Human Crystallin Beta B1 is synthesized through recombinant DNA technology, enabling its use in various research and pharmaceutical applications. Its precise structure and function make it an invaluable tool for studying lens development, cataract formation, and other related ocular disorders.

Storage Instruction

Reconstituted store at -20°C or -80°C.We recommend that single use aliquots are prepared to avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

1. Thaw the vial on ice, spin briefly
2. Prepare single-use or stock aliquots. This stage will depend on your final application so please adapt as appropriate. All our proteins are supplied carrier protein-free. If compatible with your work and you are storing at lower concentrations (<50 ug/ml) adding carrier protein is highly advised (usually 1% w/v high purity BSA or equivalent – ensure all buffers are sterile-filtered).
3. Prepare single-use aliquots whenever possible to avoid freeze-thaw cycles which can damage the proteins and reduce bioactivity. Store aliquots at -70 °C (or -20 °C)
4. We recommend sterile filtering after dilution in media or the final working solution
