CRYAB

Alternative Names: Crystallin Alpha B, CRYAB, CRYA2, CTPP2, HSPB5.

Alpha crystallins, specifically alpha-A and alpha-B, are gene products that belong to the small heat shock protein (sHSP) family, also known as HSP20. These proteins exhibit chaperone-like functions and form large soluble aggregates. Each aggregate is made up of 30-40 subunits, with the alpha-A and alpha-B subunits having a ratio of 3:1. In addition to their role as chaperones, alpha crystallins display autokinase activity and contribute to the cellular architecture. Alpha-B is expressed extensively across various tissues and organs, and its presence has been observed in numerous neurological disorders.

Product Description

Recombinant Human Crystallin Alpha B is a protein that belongs to the crystallin family, which plays a significant role in maintaining the transparency and refractive index of the lens in the human eye. With a molecular weight of approximately X kDa, this protein is involved in the structural organization and stability of lens fibers. Recombinant Human Crystallin Alpha B is widely studied for its potential implications in various ocular disorders and age-related cataract formation. Understanding the properties and functions of this protein is crucial for advancing our knowledge of lens development and maintaining ocular health.

Storage Instruction

Reconstituted store at -20°C or -80°C.We recommend that single use aliquots are prepared to avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

1. Thaw the vial on ice, spin briefly
2. Prepare single-use or stock aliquots. This stage will depend on your final application so please adapt as appropriate. All our proteins are supplied carrier protein-free. If compatible with your work and you are storing at lower concentrations (<50 ug/ml) adding carrier protein is highly advised (usually 1% w/v high purity BSA or equivalent – ensure all buffers are sterile-filtered).
3. Prepare single-use aliquots whenever possible to avoid freeze-thaw cycles which can damage the proteins and reduce bioactivity. Store aliquots at -70 °C (or -20 °C)
4. We recommend sterile filtering after dilution in media or the final working solution
