CENPM

Alternative Names: Centromere Protein M, CENP-M, Interphase Centromere Complex Protein 39, ICEN39, Chromosome 22 Open Reading Frame 18, C22orf18, Proliferation Associated Nuclear Element 1, PANE1, bK250D10.2.

The centromere is a specific region of chromatin that serves as a platform for kinetochore assembly during mitosis. Active centromeres have long arrays of nucleosomes with CENPA replacing histone H3. Centromere assembly also requires the presence of CENPM.

Product Description

Recombinant Human Centromere Protein-M, also known as CENP-M, is a protein that plays a significant role in the assembly and maintenance of the centromere, a critical region on chromosomes involved in proper chromosome segregation during cell division. Belonging to the centromere protein family, CENP-M is involved in the formation of the kinetochore, a protein complex that connects chromosomes to the spindle fibers during mitosis. With a molecular weight of approximately X kDa, this protein contributes to the stability and functionality of the centromere, ensuring accurate chromosome segregation and genome integrity.

Storage Instruction

Reconstituted store at -20°C or -80°C.We recommend that single use aliquots are prepared to avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

1. Thaw the vial on ice, spin briefly
2. Prepare single-use or stock aliquots. This stage will depend on your final application so please adapt as appropriate. All our proteins are supplied carrier protein-free. If compatible with your work and you are storing at lower concentrations (<50 ug/ml) adding carrier protein is highly advised (usually 1% w/v high purity BSA or equivalent – ensure all buffers are sterile-filtered).
3. Prepare single-use aliquots whenever possible to avoid freeze-thaw cycles which can damage the proteins and reduce bioactivity. Store aliquots at -70 °C (or -20 °C)
4. We recommend sterile filtering after dilution in media or the final working solution
