CD8A

Alternative Names: T-cell surface glycoprotein CD8 alpha chain, T-lymphocyte differentiation antigen T8/Leu-2, CD8a, MAL, CD8, Leu2, p32, T-cell surface glycoprotein CD8 alpha chain isoform 1, CD8A

CD8 protein is a glycoprotein found on cytotoxic T lymphocytes that hinders interactions between immune system cells. It acts as a co-receptor to identify antigens presented by antigen-presenting cells through class I MHC proteins. CD8 protein can exist as a homodimer, consisting of two alpha chains, or a heterodimer, composed of alpha and beta chains.

Product Description

Recombinant Human CD8A is a glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in the immune response. Belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily, CD8A is primarily expressed on the surface of cytotoxic T cells and functions as a co-receptor for the T cell receptor. With a molecular weight of approximately 32 kDa, this protein is involved in the recognition of major histocompatibility complex class I molecules, thereby facilitating T cell activation and cytotoxicity. Its significance lies in its contribution to the adaptive immune system, aiding in the elimination of infected or abnormal cells.

Storage Instruction

Reconstituted store at -20°C or -80°C.We recommend that single use aliquots are prepared to avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

1. Thaw the vial on ice, spin briefly
2. Prepare single-use or stock aliquots. This stage will depend on your final application so please adapt as appropriate. All our proteins are supplied carrier protein-free. If compatible with your work and you are storing at lower concentrations (<50 ug/ml) adding carrier protein is highly advised (usually 1% w/v high purity BSA or equivalent – ensure all buffers are sterile-filtered).
3. Prepare single-use aliquots whenever possible to avoid freeze-thaw cycles which can damage the proteins and reduce bioactivity. Store aliquots at -70 °C (or -20 °C)
4. We recommend sterile filtering after dilution in media or the final working solution
