CD40, HEK

Alternative Names: CD40 Molecule, TNF Receptor Superfamily Member 5, TNFRSF5, Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor Superfamily, Member 5, Bp50, B-Cell Surface Antigen CD40, CD40L Receptor, CDW40, B Cell Surface Antigen CD40, B Cell-Associated Molecule, CD40 Antigen (TNF Receptor Superfamily Member 5), CD40 Type II Isoform, Nerve Growth Factor Receptor-Related B-Lymphocyte Activation Molecule, p50, Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor Superfamily Member 5, CDw40, CD40 Antigen

CD40, a member of the TNF-receptor super family, plays a crucial role in various immune and inflammatory responses. These include T cell-dependent immunoglobulin class switching, memory B cell development, and germinal center formation. The AT-hook transcription factor AKNA is responsible for regulating the expression of CD40 and its ligand, which is important for cell interactions. The adaptor protein TNFR2 interacts with CD40 and acts as a mediator for signal transduction. The interaction between CD40 and its ligand is necessary for the activation of microglial cells in response to amyloid-beta, an early event in the progression of Alzheimer's disease.

Product Description

Recombinant Human CD40, HEK is a protein derived from human embryonic kidney cells (HEK) through genetic engineering techniques. Belonging to the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily, CD40 plays a crucial role in immune response modulation and cell signaling. With a molecular weight of approximately 48 kDa, this protein is involved in various cellular processes, including B cell activation, proliferation, and differentiation. Its recombinant form, produced in HEK cells, offers researchers a valuable tool for studying immune system functions and developing potential therapeutic interventions.

Storage Instruction

Reconstituted store at -20°C or -80°C.We recommend that single use aliquots are prepared to avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

1. Thaw the vial on ice, spin briefly
2. Prepare single-use or stock aliquots. This stage will depend on your final application so please adapt as appropriate. All our proteins are supplied carrier protein-free. If compatible with your work and you are storing at lower concentrations (<50 ug/ml) adding carrier protein is highly advised (usually 1% w/v high purity BSA or equivalent – ensure all buffers are sterile-filtered).
3. Prepare single-use aliquots whenever possible to avoid freeze-thaw cycles which can damage the proteins and reduce bioactivity. Store aliquots at -70 °C (or -20 °C)
4. We recommend sterile filtering after dilution in media or the final working solution
