CBX1

Alternative Names: Chromobox homolog 1, CBX, M31, HP1-BETA, HP1Hs-beta, MOD1, Heterochromatin protein 1 homolog beta, Modifier 1 protein, p25beta, Chromobox homolog 1 (Drosophila HP1 beta), Heterochromatin protein p25.

CBX1 is a key member of the heterochromatin protein family, specifically enriched in heterochromatin. It specifically recognizes and binds to histone H3 tails that are methylated at 'Lys-9', leading to epigenetic repression. Its interaction with lamin B receptor (LBR) can influence the association between heterochromatin and the inner nuclear membrane. Overall, CBX1 plays a crucial role in regulating chromatin structure and gene expression through epigenetic control.

Product Description

Recombinant Human Chromobox Homolog 1 (CBX1) is a protein belonging to the chromobox (CBX) family. CBX1 is involved in the regulation of gene expression and chromatin remodeling. With a molecular weight of approximately 20 kilodaltons, CBX1 interacts with other proteins to form complexes that modulate chromatin structure and function. This recombinant protein plays a significant role in various cellular processes and has been extensively studied for its involvement in epigenetic regulation.

Storage Instruction

Reconstituted store at -20°C or -80°C.We recommend that single use aliquots are prepared to avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

1. Thaw the vial on ice, spin briefly
2. Prepare single-use or stock aliquots. This stage will depend on your final application so please adapt as appropriate. All our proteins are supplied carrier protein-free. If compatible with your work and you are storing at lower concentrations (<50 ug/ml) adding carrier protein is highly advised (usually 1% w/v high purity BSA or equivalent – ensure all buffers are sterile-filtered).
3. Prepare single-use aliquots whenever possible to avoid freeze-thaw cycles which can damage the proteins and reduce bioactivity. Store aliquots at -70 °C (or -20 °C)
4. We recommend sterile filtering after dilution in media or the final working solution
