CA11

Alternative Names: Carbonic Anhydrase XI, Carbonic Anhydrase-Related Protein 2, Carbonic Anhydrase-Related Protein 11, CARP-2, CA-RP II, CARP XI, CARPX1, CA-XI.

Carbonic anhydrases (CAs) are a diverse family of zinc metalloenzymes that play a role in various biological processes such as respiration, calcification, and acid-base balance. Carbonic Anhydrase XI (CA11) is a likely secreted protein, although it lacks the catalytic activity typically found in other CAs. CA11 is similar to other acatalytic CA isoforms, CA VIII and CA X, and is highly expressed in the brain, suggesting a potential role in the central nervous system.

Product Description

Recombinant Human Carbonic Anhydrase XI is an enzyme belonging to the carbonic anhydrase family, specifically the XI isoform. This protein plays a role in catalyzing the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide to bicarbonate ions, contributing to pH regulation and ion transport in various tissues. With a molecular weight of approximately 29 kDa, Recombinant Human Carbonic Anhydrase XI is a key player in maintaining acid-base balance and electrolyte homeostasis within the body.

Storage Instruction

Reconstituted store at -20°C or -80°C.We recommend that single use aliquots are prepared to avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

1. Thaw the vial on ice, spin briefly
2. Prepare single-use or stock aliquots. This stage will depend on your final application so please adapt as appropriate. All our proteins are supplied carrier protein-free. If compatible with your work and you are storing at lower concentrations (<50 ug/ml) adding carrier protein is highly advised (usually 1% w/v high purity BSA or equivalent – ensure all buffers are sterile-filtered).
3. Prepare single-use aliquots whenever possible to avoid freeze-thaw cycles which can damage the proteins and reduce bioactivity. Store aliquots at -70 °C (or -20 °C)
4. We recommend sterile filtering after dilution in media or the final working solution
