bThromboplastin

Alternative Names: Tissue factor, Coagulation factor III, Thromboplastin, CD142, TF, F3, TFA

Tissue factor is a crucial initiator of blood coagulation. It encodes coagulation factor III, a cell surface glycoprotein that allows cells to begin the coagulation process. Tissue factor interacts with coagulation factor VII to activate the coagulation protease cascade, resulting in fibrin deposition and platelet activation. This catalytic event is responsible for starting the coagulation protease cascades through limited proteolysis. Tissue factor plays a role in normal hemostasis by initiating the assembly and propagation of the coagulation protease cascade on the cell surface. It can also be stimulated by certain inflammatory mediators and endotoxin, leading to its appearance on monocytes and vascular endothelial cells as part of the cellular immune response. Unlike other components of the coagulation pathway, congenital deficiency of tissue factor has not been observed. It is necessary for the viability and growth of endothelium and tissue factor-expressing tumor cells. Abnormal tissue factor expression inside blood vessels can cause life-threatening thrombosis in diseases such as sepsis, atherosclerosis, and cancer. Alternative spliced tissue factor expression promotes tumor growth and is associated with increased tumor cell proliferation and the formation of new blood vessels in pancreatic cancer.

Product Description

Bovine Thromboplastin is a protein found in the blood of cattle that plays a significant role in the coagulation cascade. Belonging to the family of tissue factor proteins, it acts as a cofactor in the activation of the clotting pathway. With a weight of approximately 47 kDa, Bovine Thromboplastin facilitates the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin, thereby initiating the formation of blood clots. Its precise role in hemostasis makes it a subject of interest in various research studies aimed at understanding the intricate mechanisms involved in blood coagulation.

Product Guarantee

If your product is within its expiration period, and has not performed according to expectations, fill out the sample return form. Return the unused sample frozen, with the auto generated packing slip to the address on the instructions. You will receive a full refund along with a replacement of the unused portion (inclusive of the failed test). Damages do not cover any additional costs incurred for failed experimentation.

Storage Instruction

Lyophilized Bovine Thromboplastin although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18C. Upon reconstitution Prothrombin should be stored at 4C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18C.For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles

Sample Prep Instruction

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Bovine Thromboplastin in sterile 0.9% NaCl
