BPIFA1

Alternative Names: BPIFA1, LUNX, NASG, PLUNC, SPURT, SPLUNC1, bA49G10.5, BPI fold-containing family A member 1, Lung-specific protein X, Nasopharyngeal carcinoma-related protein, Palate lung and nasal epithelium clone protein, Secretory protein in upper respiratory tracts, Tracheal epithelium-enriched protein, Von Ebner protein Hl.

BPIFA1 is a member of the short subfamily of PLUNC family proteins that has similarity to the N-terminal domains of BPI. It is a secreted protein found in the secretory ducts and submucosal glands of the tracheobronchial tissues. BPIFA1 has been shown to bind to LPS in nasal lavage fluid, indicating its involvement in the inflammatory response of the upper airways to irritants. Additionally, BPIFA1 shows potential as a marker for detecting micrometastasis in non-small-cell lung cancer. Decreased levels of BPIFA1 are observed in smokers and individuals exposed to reactive epoxy chemicals, suggesting that long-term exposure to airway irritants can affect the production of BPIFA1 in the upper respiratory tract.

Product Description

Recombinant Human BPI fold containing family A Member 1 is a protein belonging to the BPI (bactericidal/permeability-increasing) fold family. This protein, also known as BPIFA1, plays a crucial role in innate immunity and is involved in the defense against bacterial infections. With a molecular weight of approximately X kDa, Recombinant Human BPI fold containing family A Member 1 exhibits antimicrobial activity and is primarily expressed in the upper respiratory tract and oral cavity. Its structural and functional characteristics make it a potential target for therapeutic interventions and further research in the field of immunology.

Storage Instruction

Reconstituted store at -20°C or -80°C.We recommend that single use aliquots are prepared to avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

1. Thaw the vial on ice, spin briefly
2. Prepare single-use or stock aliquots. This stage will depend on your final application so please adapt as appropriate. All our proteins are supplied carrier protein-free. If compatible with your work and you are storing at lower concentrations (<50 ug/ml) adding carrier protein is highly advised (usually 1% w/v high purity BSA or equivalent – ensure all buffers are sterile-filtered).
3. Prepare single-use aliquots whenever possible to avoid freeze-thaw cycles which can damage the proteins and reduce bioactivity. Store aliquots at -70 °C (or -20 °C)
4. We recommend sterile filtering after dilution in media or the final working solution
