bFGF2

Alternative Names: Prostatropin, FGF-2, FGB-b, HBGH-2, HBGF-2

FGF-basic, a member of the FGF family, binds heparin and exhibits mitogenic and angiogenic activities. It plays a role in limb and nervous system development, wound healing, and tumor growth. The mRNA for this gene can be alternatively translated from different initiation codons, resulting in five isoforms with unique properties. The CUG-initiated isoforms are nuclear and mediate intracrine effects, while the AUG-initiated isoform is cytosolic and mediates paracrine and autocrine effects. Heparin-binding growth factors, like FGF-basic, are potent mitogens for various cell types and have angiogenic properties. The tissue distribution and concentration of these growth factors may differ.

Product Description

Recombinant Bovine Fibroblast Growth Factor-basic, also known as bFGF, is a member of the fibroblast growth factor family. This protein plays a key role in cell proliferation, differentiation, and survival. With a molecular weight of approximately 17 kDa, bFGF is involved in various physiological processes, including wound healing and tissue regeneration. Its recombinant form is commonly used in research and therapeutic applications due to its potent mitogenic and angiogenic properties.

Product Guarantee

If your product is within its expiration period, and has not performed according to expectations, fill out the sample return form. Return the unused sample frozen, with the auto generated packing slip to the address on the instructions. You will receive a full refund along with a replacement of the unused portion (inclusive of the failed test). Damages do not cover any additional costs incurred for failed experimentation.

Amino Acid Sequence

The sequence of the first five N-terminal amino acids was determined and was found to be Met-Ala-Ala-Gly-Ser.

Storage Instruction

Lyophilized Fibroblast Growth Factor 2 Bovine although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution FGF-b Bovine Recombinant should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C. Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Fibroblast Growth Factor-2 Bovine Recombinant in sterile 18MΩ-cm H2O not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
