bDNase

Alternative Names: EC 3.1.21.1, Deoxyribonuclease I, DNase I, DNL1, DRNI, FLJ38093, DNASE1, Deoxyribonuclease-1

Bovine Deoxyribonuclease I (bDNase) is an endonuclease enzyme that selectively cleaves DNA by breaking phosphodiester linkages within polynucleotides. Activated by bivalent metals like Mg+2 and Ca+2, bDNase primarily acts on single-stranded DNA (ssDNA), double-stranded DNA (dsDNA), and chromatin. This enzyme is commonly used in biochemical methods that require DNA digestion and RNA recovery, as well as in tissue culture to reduce viscosity by digesting DNA from damaged cells and to remove membrane-bound DNA fragments without affecting structural proteins or enzymes.
