Bcl-2 -BH3

Alternative Names: Bcl-2, BCL2, B-cell CLL/lymphoma 2, Apoptosis regulator Bcl-2

The BCL2 gene codes for a protein found in the outer membrane of mitochondria. This protein prevents programmed cell death (apoptosis) in certain cells like lymphocytes. When BCL2 is consistently expressed, as seen in cases where it is translocated to the Ig heavy chain locus, it is believed to cause follicular lymphoma. There are two different forms of the BCL2 protein, resulting from alternate splicing, which have varying C-terminal ends.

Product Description

Recombinant Human B-Cell Leukemia/Lymphoma 2 -BH3, commonly referred to as BCL-2 BH3, is a protein that belongs to the B-cell lymphoma 2 (BCL-2) family. This family consists of proteins involved in the regulation of cell death and survival pathways. BCL-2 BH3 is a crucial component in the intricate network of proteins responsible for maintaining cellular homeostasis. With a weight of approximately [insert weight], this protein plays a significant role in the control of apoptosis, the programmed cell death process. Its precise functioning and interactions with other members of the BCL-2 family contribute to the delicate balance between cell survival and death.

Storage Instruction

Lyophilized Bcl-2 although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution Bcl-2 should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

Suspend Bcl-2 in 100?l of 0.5M Acetic acid, over night at 4°C. Dilute 10 fold into selected buffer system. BCL-2 has tendency to form intramolecular disulfide bond, 5mM DTT is recommended in assay buffer. When running SDS-PAGE gel, 10mM DTT is recommended.
