Angiotensin

Alternative Names: Angiotensinogen, SERPINA8, Serpin A8, ANHU

Angiotensin is a peptide in the blood that causes vasoconstriction, increased blood pressure, and aldosterone release. It is derived from angiotensinogen, a liver-produced serum globulin. The gene encoding this protein, pre-angiotensinogen, is expressed in the liver and cleaved by renin to produce angiotensin I. This is then converted by ACE to angiotensin II, which is physiologically active. Angiotensin plays a key role in the renin-angiotensin system, contributing to blood pressure regulation and conditions like essential hypertension and preeclampsia.

Product Description

Angiotensin is a peptide hormone that plays a key role in regulating blood pressure and fluid balance in the body. Belonging to the renin-angiotensin system, it is produced primarily in the liver and lungs. With a molecular weight of approximately 1296.5 g/mol, angiotensin acts on blood vessels to constrict them, leading to an increase in blood pressure. Its activation is tightly controlled through a series of enzymatic reactions, making it a critical component of the body's homeostatic mechanisms.

Storage Instruction

Lyophilized Angiotensin although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution Serpin A8 should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C. Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Sample Prep Instruction

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Angiotensin in sterile 18MΩ-cm H2O not less than 100 µg/ml or more than 10 mg/ml solutions.
