ADFP

Alternative Names: Adipophilin, Adipose differentiation-related protein, ADRP, ADFP, MGC10598.

ADFP is an important component of the surface membrane of lipid droplets. It is found in the globule surface and its expression levels can be assessed through mRNA levels. In the case of Mycobacterium leprae infection, ADFP expression is regulated to promote the accumulation of lipids within infected macrophages for survival. ADFP is also present in lipid droplets of hepatic stellate cells that store vitamin A, as well as lipid droplets of steatotic hepatocytes. Furthermore, ADFP expression plays a role in the differentiation of clear cell renal carcinoma. It is worth noting that ADFP is also found in the lipid droplets of THP-1 cells.

Product Description

Recombinant Human Adipose Differentiation-Related Protein (ADRP) is a protein that plays a crucial role in adipocyte differentiation and lipid droplet formation. Belonging to the perilipin family, ADRP is primarily expressed in adipose tissue and is involved in the regulation of lipid metabolism. With a molecular weight of approximately 50 kDa, this protein is known for its ability to coat lipid droplets, facilitating their growth and stabilization. ADRP's significance lies in its contribution to adipogenesis and lipid storage, making it a valuable target for studying obesity-related disorders and metabolic diseases.
